Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risks

By voluntarily participating in any activities organized by Veil Hunts LLC (hereinafter referred to as “VEIL”), I understand and agree to the inherent risks associated with such activities. I recognize that these activities, including treasure hunts, involve moderate physical exertion, hiking and outdoor exploration, and potential hazards, including but not limited to:

  • Physical injury including falls, slips, sprains, strains, broken bones, back injuries, and rolled ankles
  • Dehydration, heat-related illnesses, hypothermia, exposure to extreme weather conditions (cold, heat, wind, sun, lightning), exposure to man-made toxic pathogens or contaminants
  • Risks from dangerous plants and animals, including wild, aggressive, poisonous, venomous, or disease-carrying species
  • Uneven terrain, falling objects, drowning, heart issues (such as cardiac arrest), and accidents
  • Hunting and trapping
  • Becoming lost or separated, emotional distress, paralysis, illness, and even death
  • Potential damage to my personal property and injury to myself or others

I understand these risks and acknowledge that I am–and those in my party or care are–voluntarily engaging in these activities and that I am/they are prepared to embark on a search and are in good physical condition to do so. I agree to bear the responsibility for any medical care I might require due to my/their participation, and that such costs will be my own.

Responsibility for Safety

I acknowledge that while the treasure does not require a high degree of skill to access, I may mistakenly explore locations where the treasure is not hidden and may encounter manmade ruins and extreme or naturally unstable terrain.

I acknowledge that I will often be alone or in desolate locations with limited cell service and limited access to help. I understand that it is my responsibility to practice safe searching techniques and to notify friends and family of my intended search location and when I expect to return.

I also understand that other participants and members of the public may be involved in the activity. VEIL is not liable for their actions or behavior.

Code of Conduct

I acknowledge I have read the Safe Hunting Guide and if I find the treasure I will quietly and discreetly leave the site without mention of my find until I reach a safe location.

If I discover the treasure, I agree to follow the instructions to securely deactivate the trail cam, place it in a bag, and ensure that it does not record during my private handling of it, from the moment of discovery until I return it to VEIL.

Liability and Indemnification

By participating, I release, indemnify, and hold harmless VEIL, its owners, employees, agents, volunteers, and representatives on behalf of myself, my family, my representation, my estate, and those I share any and all VEIL information with from any and all claims or causes of action related to my involvement in these activities. This includes but is not limited to claims for negligence, omissions, or the use of VEIL’s equipment and facilities.

In the event that VEIL incurs attorney’s fees or costs while enforcing this waiver, I agree to indemnify and hold VEIL harmless for those expenses.

Insurance and Medical Responsibility

I confirm that I have adequate insurance coverage for any injury or damage that might arise during my participation. If I do not have such coverage, I agree to personally bear any costs for injury or damage sustained. Additionally, I acknowledge that I assume the risks associated with any pre-existing medical conditions.

Use of Video and Media

I grant VEIL full, unconditional, and permanent permission to use any video of the treasure or discussion of the hunt that I capture during my participation for any purpose deemed appropriate by VEIL.

Location Restrictions

I agree to only search for treasure on public lands where such activities are permitted. For private hunts organized by VEIL, I understand that only the designated areas listed for each hunt may be searched, and I will not explore areas outside of the specified zones.

Treasure Discovery and Conduct

I swear to acquire the treasure peacefully by being the first person to pick it up in the location shown on the trail cam. I will claim ownership only if I am the original finder. Should I attempt to seize the treasure from another participant or engage in unlawful actions, I acknowledge that I will forfeit any claim to the treasure and its reward. I may also face permanent bans from future VEIL hunts and potential legal consequences.

I further recognize that VEIL is not responsible for the actions of any participants or members of the public, and I release VEIL from liability related to those actions.

Jurisdiction and Legal Matters

If any legal dispute arises from my participation in VEIL activities, I agree that any lawsuits will be filed exclusively in New Jersey and governed by its laws, regardless of any conflicting legal principles. If any part of this agreement is found to be invalid, the rest of the agreement remains fully enforceable.

Waiver of Rights

By participating in this activity, I understand that I may forfeit my right to pursue legal action against VEIL for any injuries or damages covered by this waiver. I acknowledge that a court may deem that I have waived such rights based on this agreement.

Acknowledgment and Consent

I affirm that I have had sufficient time to review this document and fully understand its contents. I voluntarily agree to the terms outlined and acknowledge that they remain valid for any future VEIL activities I participate in.

Parental or Guardian Consent (if applicable)

If I am the parent or legal guardian of a minor participant, I agree to indemnify and hold VEIL harmless from any claims or actions brought on behalf of the minor in connection with their participation in any VEIL activity.
